Microsoft Office Expert Reveals Locked Selection Fix || 

You can't make this change because the selection is locked || MS Word| | Microsoft Office 11 || Office 2016|| 2024 Microsoft Word: Scenario: You open a Word document and try to type, but you see a message saying "You can't make this change because the selection is locked." Cause: The document might be in read-only mode or have editing restrictions enabled by the author. 

Solution: 

Step 1: Go to This PC or Computer. Step 

2: Then C drive. Step 

3: Find out Microsoft office after Office 16 

4. OSPPREARM Right Button click 

5. Run as Administrator and Yes Twice. 

Now Refresh or Re-open MS Word.
